  1. There are different possibilities for breast reconstruction after a mastectomy because of breast cancer . These involve the use of tissues of the own patient ( free flaps, TRAMP), the use of tissue expansion and a breast implant (Alloplasic Reconstruction) or the use of patients tissues and a breast implant (usually Latissimus Dorsi Flap + implant). All these  alternatives seek the creation of a breast mold  , the areola and nipple are usually reconstructed at  a second stage. Sometimes additional procedures as ptosis  correction or breast reduction are done on the opposite breast to gain symmetry.
  2. Breast Reconstruction is a team work and it should be discussed with the patient and all the staff involved in her treatment (ex. breast surgeon, oncologist, radiotherapist, psicologist etc.), to decide what is the best option for each particular person.
  3. Breast Reconstruction may be done after mastectomy or as a delayed procedure depending in each particular case .
